1. Predict the champions
Before the tournament gets underway you'll have to forecast the winning players in:
- Men's singles
- Women's singles
- Men's doubles
- Women's doubles
- Mixed doubles
- Men's invitational doubles
- Women's invitational doubles
- Senior men's invitational doubles
with 5pts for each correctly predicted champion, 2pts for runners-up and 1pt for beaten semi-finalists.
2. Predict the outcome of selected matches in each round
@kirstieh will select a handful of matches from each round of each competition (men's, women's, singles and doubles) and you must forecast the final score in sets. Some matches will be over 3 sets and others over 5 sets - more points are available for the latter.
Match selections for all rounds will actually be made before the tournament gets underway, so everyone can keep an eye on which matches lie ahead. As soon as the players are known you can make your predictions. There will be a feature to opt-in to automatic DMs and/or @mention reminders.
The scoring scheme can be expressed as follows:- 1 point if you predict the match winner correctly
- + 1 point if you correctly predict whether the finished in straight sets or not
- + 1 point if you exactly predicted the score in a five-set match
The total points scored in all possible scenarios is possibly better explained in the tables below:

2 - 3 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 1 | 2 | 3 | 1 | 0 |
3. The tie-breaker bonus
We've added an extra element to test your tennis predictive skills. You must predict the total no. of tie-break sets that will occur in the selected matches in each round. You will be awarded 3pts if your tie-break prediction is correct.
For example in the final round, we'll probably be selecting all five finals. The men's singles and doubles finals could potentially go to five sets with 4 tie-breaks, with the other 3 finals having a maximum of 2 tie-breaks each. So for the final round tie-break predictions will be a number between 0 and 14.
NEW: The Knockout Tournament
In addition to watching your progress in the Standings table, there will be an additional bit of fun in the form of a knockout tournament featuring an open draw of head-to-head pairings of all our Twitter players. The starting round of our knockout tournament will depend on the no. of players who enrol at the beginning.
- 65-128 - we start at Round 1
- 33-64 - we start at Round 2
- 17-32 - we start at Round 3
To win your head-to-head match, you have to score more prediction points for the selected matches in the current round than your opponent. The winner makes it through to the next round, with the other player being eliminated. In the event of a tie, the following scores will be used to separate the pair:
- closest tie-break prediction for the current round
- then, scores from match predictions in the previous round
- then closest tie-break prediction for the previous round
- then, if still tied, repeat for tie-break and scores from other previous rounds (if any).
- In the unlikely event that the scores are still tied, the winner will be decided by some random method
